Below are the 2019 Commencement speakers:
Sofia Carozza, Valedictorian
Sofia Carozza of South Bend, Indiana, has been named valedictorian of the 2019 University of Notre Dame graduating class and will present the valedictory address during the 174th University Commencement Ceremony on May 19 (Sunday) at Notre Dame Stadium.
Annelise Gill-Wiehl, Salutatorian
This year’s salutatorian is St. Louis, Missouri, native Annelise Gill-Wiehl, an environmental engineering major with a minor in international development studies. As the salutatorian, she will offer the Commencement invocation and will be prepared to deliver a valedictory address should the valedictorian be unable to do so.
Norman C. Francis, Laetare Medal
Norman C. Francis, longtime beloved president of Xavier University of Louisiana, will receive the University of Notre Dame’s 2019 Laetare Medal — the oldest and most prestigious honor given to American Catholics — at Notre Dame’s 174th University Commencement Ceremony on May 19 (Sunday).
Peggy Noonan, Commencement Speaker
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the Wall Street Journal, speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan and author of five New York Times best-sellers — will deliver the principal address and receive an honorary degree at the University of Notre Dame’s 174th commencement ceremony May 19.(Sunday).
