• Notre Dame Doctor Rental (PhD/Law), includes gown, hood, tam, and souvenir tassel - $150.00 - Deadline to rent your Ph.D. gown is March 31, 2024, to guarantee delivery in time for commencement. See below.
• Purchased custom Notre Dame Doctor gown (PhD/Law), hood and tam - $1,098.00 - Deadline to purchase your Ph.D. gown is March 1, 2024, to guarantee delivery in time for commencement. See below.
• Payments accepted - all major credit cards, student accounts, cash.

Please note: Tassel colors are based on the degree you are earning and not the major.

PhD and Law Doctoral Regalia:

If you are planning to participate in Commencement Weekend 2024 activities, you will need to rent or purchase your regalia for your ceremonies.  

The website to order Notre Dame Doctoral Rental Gowns is currently open and ready to accept orders.

Ordering deadline - March 31, 2024, to ensure on-time delivery* 

After the website is closed,  a limited number of rental doctor gowns will be available on a first come, first serve basis. These gowns will be available for pickup/payment beginning May 13.

Rental gown orders will be available for pickup at the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore on May 13-18, from 8 a.m. -7 p.m. Payment is due at the time of pickup.  It is required that the student pick up their gown in person with a valid ID.

Ordering deadline – March 1  to ensure on-time delivery*

Purchase Custom Regalia.  Please fill out the custom order form.  Purchase price for a custom Notre Dame gown, hood and tam (cap) is $1,098.00. The deadline for ordering a custom gown is March 1, 2024.  

Custom orders placed after March 1, 2024, will not be guaranteed for commencement.

*Purchases must be completed by the deadlines to ensure on-time delivery. After the deadlines, sizes cannot be guaranteed.
