Summer and January Graduates Action Items

Congratulations on your recent graduation! 

Summer 2023 and January 2024 graduates are invited to the May 2024 Commencement Weekend (May 17-19).

As Commencement Weekend approaches, we encourage you to check your email regularly, as much of our communication to you will come in the form of emails.


Please be sure to review the appropriate Action Items provided for your participation in Commencement Weekend activities.

Personalized Announcements

Balfour/CB Announcements is the official provider of University of Notre Dame announcements. CB Announcements is proud of your achievement and has designed the graduation announcement to help communicate your accomplishments and upcoming graduation with your family, friends, and others who care about you. Go to CBgrad.com (your student ID# is required to order). 

Latin Honors, majors, minors, concentrations, and degree may be printed on announcements.


Guest Tickets/RSVP

Summer 2023 and January 2024 graduates:

Please complete your Graduation Application and specify the number of guest tickets no later than Friday, March 22, 2024. If any of your guests have a physical restriction and require special seating, please indicate this information in detail. You can return to the Graduation Application to adjust your guest tickets anytime before the deadline. 

Commencement Mass - Tickets are not required for the University Commencement Mass on Saturday, May 18 in the Joyce Center – Purcell Pavilion; however, an RSVP is requested. Cap and gown are required. Seating will be at capacity and overflow will be moved to the North Dome of the Joyce Center.

University Commencement Ceremony - Guest tickets are required for the Sunday morning University Commencement Ceremony at Notre Dame Stadium. Tickets are unlimited but must be requested by March 22. The procession begins at 9:00 a.m. and the program begins at 9:30 a.m. Cap and gown are required.

Closed circuit live broadcast of the ceremony will be available in DeBartolo Hall for those guests who would prefer not to sit outside in the Notre Dame Stadium.

Diploma Ceremonies - Tickets are not required and guests are unlimited for your Diploma Ceremony; however, an RSVP is requested through the Graduation Application.  Cap and gown is required.


Diploma Ceremonies

Degree candidates will receive their diplomas during their respective separate college/department/school ceremonies. As you already graduated, you will be provided with an empty diploma cover, so that as you walk across the stage, you are treated the same as the degree candidates who are just receiving their diplomas. Students will receive additional information from their college, school, or department regarding their respective ceremonies. Tickets are not required for individual diploma ceremonies; however, an RSVP is requested through the Graduation Application.


Diploma Name & Commencement Program Changes

As a previous graduate, you had the opportunity to change your name and hometown during your graduating semester.  The links below will provide another look at the name and hometown you chose for your diploma and/or Commencement program.

If you would like to change your hometown listing for the Commencement program, please use the Graduation Application. The deadline is March 22.  Summer and January graduates have already received their diplomas.  For diploma name changes or replacement diploma requests, please visit the Diploma Information website.


Commencement Flowers

Flowers will be available for purchase during Commencement Weekend from kiosks conveniently located around campus. If you wish to pre-order your flowers to reserve your graduate’s favorite color, please go to the following link: http://www.commencementflowers.com/index.php/notredame


Inclusion of Name in University Commencement Program

May 2024 degree candidates, Summer 2023 graduates, and January 2024 graduates will appear in the publicly-disseminated University Commencement Program. In addition, the names of all May 2024 degree candidates, Summer 2023 graduates, and January 2024 graduates will be included on the back of the Graduation T-shirts.

If you wish to exclude your name from the publicly-disseminated program and the Graduation T-shirt, you must provide the signed, written Request Form  to the Office of the Registrar no later than April 1, 2024.


Address Information

Graduates are encouraged to keep their home address information current with the University. To update your address, please email Alumni at alumfile@nd.edu.

If you anticipate receiving tax documents in 2024, please keep your address current with the Registrar by emailing Address.1@nd.edu.


Graduation Photographer

GradImages® is the official photographer and will be taking individual photos of each graduate at their diploma ceremonies. Please go to the GradImages website to preregister.
