Guest Tickets

Diploma Ceremonies

Guest tickets are required for the Diploma Ceremonies. Tickets were emailed to students on Monday, May 17. Students should forward the tickets to their invited guests.

Commencement Mass and University Commencement Ceremony

Guest tickets are required for the Commencement Mass and University Commencement Ceremony at Notre Dame Stadium. Cap and gown is required for students.

Guest tickets for both the Diploma Ceremonies and the Mass/University Commencement Ceremony were emailed to students on Monday, May 17. Students should forward their mobile tickets to their invited guests. Once a guest ticket is scanned, it cannot be used again for the same event.

Special Needs

If a guest requires Special Needs seating, such as a wheelchair seating area or Hearing Impaired Interpreter section, for instance, the student should have requested this accommodation along with their guest ticket counts. If this accommodation was not made, please email commencement@nd.edu right away.

Severe Weather

Please note that if rain is falling or likely (but not severe weather), Commencement ceremonies will still be held outdoors.  A rain poncho will be provided to each graduate, and guests are encouraged to bring rain gear.

Severe Weather location: Joyce Center (Purcell Pavilion)

In the case of Severe Weather, the decision to implement the Severe Weather Plan and move indoors will be announced by 7:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday, May 23. If the ceremonies are moved to the Joyce Center (Purcell Pavilion), or delayed, a message will be sent to graduates via cell phones registered with the ND Emergency Alert system. A notice will also be posted on the Commencement website (commencement.nd.edu) and announced on local television stations.

The Commencement Mass will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Should conditions necessitate a move indoors to the Joyce Center, our priority will be to seat our graduates. Distanced seating in the Joyce Center will unfortunately not permit us to accommodate any in-person guests.

Severe Weather Instructions for College and School Diploma/Hooding Ceremonies

In the event of severe weather, diploma and hooding ceremonies will be moved indoors to either the Joyce Center (Purcell Pavilion) or Compton Family Ice Arena. If the ceremonies are moved indoors, or delayed, a message will be sent to graduates via cell phones registered with the ND Emergency Alert system. A notice will also be posted on the Commencement website (commencement.nd.edu). Distanced seating will still be necessary, and given distanced seating capacities, limited guest seats will be available. In an effort to maximize the number of guests per graduate, guest ticket allotments have been calculated based on the capacity of each venue and number of graduates participating in each ceremony.

Specifically, the number of guest tickets to be provided in the event of a move indoors is as follows:

  • College of Arts and Letters: 1 guest ticket (Purcell Pavilion)
  • College of Science: 2 guest tickets (Purcell Pavilion)
  • College of Engineering: 2 guest tickets (Purcell Pavilion)
  • Graduate School: 4 guest tickets (Purcell Pavilion)
  • Mendoza College of Business graduate: 2 guest tickets (Purcell Pavilion)
  • Mendoza College of Business undergraduate: 2 guest tickets (Purcell Pavilion)
  • Keough School of Global Affairs: 4 guest tickets (Compton Family Ice Arena)
  • Law School: 4 guest tickets (Compton Family Ice Arena)
  • ROTC: 4 guest tickets (Compton Family Ice Arena)
  • School of Architecture: 4 guest tickets (Compton Family Ice Arena)
