Faculty Information

It honors your students and is appreciated by their family members and friends when you fully participate in Commencement Weekend activities. There are two major University events during the weekend: the Commencement Mass and the University Commencement Ceremony. You may also receive information from your college or department regarding additional diploma ceremonies.

Faculty and Rector Information:

Professional Ceremonies (Law, Graduate School, Graduate Business) and Undergraduate Diploma Ceremonies
Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 - times and locations

Commencement Mass
Saturday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. (faculty assemble at 4:10 p.m. in the Joyce Center, North Dome)

University Commencement Ceremony
Sunday, May 19 at 9:00 a.m. (faculty and rectors report to the north side of the Stadium Tunnel Gate  by 8:40 a.m.)

Apparel

Academic robes are required for the Commencement Mass, the University Commencement Ceremony, and the individual undergraduate college diploma ceremonies.

If you do not plan to use your own cap and gown, you can order a cap and gown rental at the bookstore. Ordering information was sent by the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore.  Order on-line at https://undfaculty.shopoakhalli.com through March 31.  Orders after March 31 will include late fees. Payment will be required when you pick-up your rental gown at the bookstore May 13-17. All rental returns are requested to be returned the day of commencement.  Late return fees will be assessed after Tuesday, May 21.

  • Bachelor gown rental set - $60.00
  • Master gown rental set - $64.00
  • Non Notre Dame Doctor gown rental set - $66 & Up
  • Notre Dame Doctor gown rental set - $140.00


Note: Faculty Marshals for the Commencement Mass and the University Commencement Ceremony will only be reimbursed for the non-Notre Dame black doctoral, master's, or bachelor's regalia.
